Mary Gutierrez

Mrs. Mary (Hernandez) Gutierrez, 85, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Friday, December 23, 2011, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. Mrs. Gutierrez was born October 22, 1926, in Minatare, Nebraska, a daughter of the late Vincent and Theodora (Ornales) Hernandez. Mary attended school in Ft. Collins, Colorado, and resided in Ft. Collins until her late 20s. She married Francisco Gutierrez in 1954 and they moved to Cheyenne to raise a family. When her children were older, she was employed as a laundry worker for Cheyenne Steam Laundry and Mountain Towers Healthcare. Following her retirement, she enjoyed eating out and shopping, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and her family. Mary is survived by her son, Vincent Gutierrez of Cheyenne; three daughters, Esther Hernandez of Salt Lake City, UT, Frances Gutierrez of Cheyenne, and Delores Andazola of Cheyenne; six brothers, Ralph Hernandez, Vincent Hernandez, Diego Hernandez, Jess Hernandez, Fernando Hernandez, and Martin Hernandez, all of Cheyenne; a sister, Lupe Perea of Cheyenne; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francisco A. Gutierrez, a son, Martin Gutierrez; a brother, Nicholas Hernandez; and two sisters, Jenny Padilla and Annie Martinez. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. with a Vigil for the Deceased to follow at 7:30 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, December 30th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral with Father Rob Spaulding as celebrant. An interment service will be held at Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jess D. Fresquez, Vincent Hernandez, Jess Hernandez, Chuck Laycock, Danny Lopez, Phillip Moralez, Shaun Nelson and Thomas Mendoza. Honorary Pallbearers will be Vincent Gutierrez, David Martinez, John Andazola, Ralph Hernandez, Monica Gutierrez, Diane Martinez, Esther Martinez and Catalina Collins. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home, Cheyenne.
