Mary Jean was born May 20, 1931, in Cheyenne, a daughter of the late Sterling and Eula (Kelly) Jones. A faithful member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Mary Jean served as a church secretary for a number of years while also offering her talents as a Sunday School teacher, a Vacation Bible School teacher, and a member of the church choir. She also enjoyed singing in the Sweet Adelines chorus. Mary Jean also worked as a secretary for the Eventide Manor and for the Laramie County Clerk’s office. A homemaker at heart, she enjoyed caring for her gardens, crocheting, knitting, camping and taking care of animals, but her greatest joy was spending time with and doing things for her family. Mary Jean is survived by her daughter, Barbara Gano and husband, Richard, of Cheyenne; her brother, William Jones of Cheyenne; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Husted; and her son, Brett Day.
