Mary Jane Uchner died July 30, 2017. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was born January 9, 1932, to Harry B. and Alice Henderson, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Cheyenne High with the Class of 1950. Jane attended college at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, the University of Colorado in Boulder and the University of Wyoming. She had a long record of being on the honor roll at those institutions. Jane married David Uchner in October 1954. She is survived by her husband; daughters, Susan Lewis of Cheyenne and Margaret Ann Uchner of Denver, Colorado. Her surviving grandchildren and great grandchildren are Kimberly Oleske, David Oleske, Somer Dahm, Karen Medina, Lilly Medina and Kali Medina. In college, she was President of the University of Wyoming Young Republicans and a lifetime member of the Alumni Association. She was a member of the Delta Gamma Society. Jane considered it pure joy to spend her days as a wife, mother, grandmother and Christian. She was a devoted lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church. Another part of Jane was her love for Cheyenne and the Cowboy State. She was Cheyenne Frontier Days Miss Frontier in 1952. She served the community in many other ways. She was a past president of the PEO, the DePaul Hospital Guild, the Women's Civic League and the Frontier Days WHEELS. She and a close friend started the first Civic League Christmas House in Cheyenne. A funeral service will be held in Cheyenne at the First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, August 2 at 2:00 p.m. with interment in Beth el Cemetery. Memorials may be given in her memory to the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum or the American Heart Association.
