Mary Ann Murray Pulis, 90, a Cheyenne native passed away peacefully on December 29, 2013 at Pueblo Norte Healthcare Center in Scottsdale. She was born on March 25, 1923 in Cheyenne, the first child of the late John L. and Anastasia Marie Murray. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School and attended the University of Wyoming. After losing her husband, Donald Charles Pulis in 1962, Mary Ann devoted her life to raising her four children. She was an avid knitter and gardener, even raising African Violets for sale at Roedel's Drug Store. Mary Ann was devoted to her church, St. Mary's Cathedral and proud of her pioneer heritage. Her grandfather, John L. Murray was the Mayor of Cheyenne 1901-1903. Mr. Murray was one of the first planners of Cheyenne Frontier Days, was instrumental in establishing Cheyenne's water and sewer system, and advocated for Cheyenne's Public Park system. She is survived by her children, Ann Pulis Rouse of Scottsdale, Jane Pulis (Robert) Burney of Scottsdale, Donald Charles "Casey" (Jane) Pulis of Scottsdale, Caroline Pulis (Robert) Wawrzynski of Ft. Collins, CO; grandchildren, Christy (Chris)Hooppaw , Andrew, Zachary and Carrie Pulis; brother John L. Murray of Cheyenne; niece, Susan K. McComas of Bel Air, MD. and her great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Carris Hooppaw. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Charles Pulis; sister, Susan Murray Cosgriff; grandson, Bryan Robert Pulis Burney and her son-in-law, Larry J. Rouse. Those who wish may contribute to St. Mary's Cathedral. Visitation will be Friday noon until 4:00 p.m. with additional services to be announced in the Schrader Funeral Home column.
