Maureen Marie Hape

Mareen Marie Hape, 78 years old of Cheyenne, WY passed away peacefully at her home in Cheyenne surrounded by her loved ones on February 22, 2023.

Memorial services will be held on March 10, 2023, at 11 am at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens Chapel.

Maureen was born to Doris and Marie Bridgett Mercer in Pine Bluffs, WY on May 9, 1944.  Her mother passed away when she was an infant and her father married Elva Mercer.  She attended school in Pine Bluffs WY.  At the request of her father, she was given a choice of two different careers after graduation.  She would either be a cosmetologist or a nurse.  She worked in a salon for about 2 years and decided to move forward and work for Mountain Bell as a telephone operator.  Maureen would later retire from Mountain Bell.  

It was at Mountain Bell where she met and fell in love with Ron Hape.  They married in Laramie, Wyoming, on June 23, 1970.  

Maureen felt her greatest accomplishment was the 5 children she and Ron shared together.  Kellie Caldwell-Garcia, Rhonda Starr (Ron), Sandy Carden (Patrick), Michael Thomas Caldwell, Ron "Duke" Hape II (Angela).  She is survived by her children, 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, Corinne Keogh (Gary) sister, Dennis Mercer (Vida) brother, Gary Mercer (Diana) brother, Mary Ellen Baker sister, Eddie Owen brother.

Maureen was preceded in death by her husband Ron Hape, her parents, a brother Tommy Mercer, sisters Mary Lynne Wilhelm and Sharon Kittleson.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks for contributions to Black Dog Rescue or Cheyenne Animal Shelter in her honor.
