Maxine Romsa went home to be with the Lord after a courageous struggle against cancer on August 11, 2011 in Tacoma, WA. Maxine was born to Vivian and Burt Kenzy on the family ranch near Lucas, South Dakota, on October 22, 1934. She was the oldest of four children. A child of the Great Depression, Maxine moved several times during her early years as her father worked hard to give his family a better life. After living in Scottsbluff, Gering and Mitchell, Nebraska, the Kenzy family settled in Albin, Wyoming, in 1946, were Maxine lived for the rest of her life. While growing up in Albin, Maxine met George Lee Romsa, who became the great love of her life. Maxine graduated from Albin High School in 1953. She attended business school in Denver, CO and afterwards worked for the State of Wyoming, Tourism Commission until she married her sweetheart, George Lee, on October 2, 1954. Maxine and George Lee spent the rest of their lives as farmers and ranchers on the family place west of Albin. Maxine and George Lee had five children, Deborah, Jay, Donna, Julie and Lee, eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Maxine loved music, flowers, art and especially people. She was up for any social event at any time, any place. George Lee often teased her about always being the first to arrive and the last one to turn out the lights. Maxine was an active member of the Albin community and was involved in many Albin school, church and community functions. She also served the community as a representative of the Laramie County Tourism Board for many years. Maxine was an active member of Albin Baptist Church, who lived her faith daily. She was involved in home bible studies, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Girls Meeting God and Boys Club. Maxine loved music and enjoyed singing in the church Choir. Maxine was later involved in planting the Cheyenne Hills Church. She was a charter member and served in a variety of positions including on the Trustee Board. Maxine was preceded in death by her father, Burt Kenzy; husband, George Lee Romsa; daughter, Deborah (Tim) Kolnik; and great-grandson, Jeremiah Williams. She is survived by her mother, Vivian Kenzy of Cheyenne; her brother, Curt (Darlene) Kenzy of Torrington, WY; sisters, Jonne (Jim) Moore of Albin and Jacque Halsey of Omaha, NE; children, Jay (Sue) Romsa of North Mankato, MN, Donna (Dave) Wasserburger of Gig Harbor, WA, Julie (Brent) Osterhaut of Collinsville, IL, and Lee(Irene) Romsa of Wellington, CO; grandchildren, Tim, Michael and Chris Kolnik, Kristina Williams, Bryan and David Romsa, Brandon Wasserburger, Shane and Jayme Osterhaut J. C. Castillo and Daniel Romsa, and five great-grandchildren. Maxine epitomized a servant heart, a true friend and was a faithful prayer warrior.
