Merry Neely

Mrs. Merry June (Hartzell) Neely, 94, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Life Care Center of Cheyenne. June was born October 14, 1918, in Peru, Kansas, a daughter of the late Leland E. and Jospehine Faye (Conner) Hartzell. June attended nursing school at the age of 17 in Denver and worked as a registered nurse at several medical facilities including Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne, the University of Wyoming Health Center in Laramie, Poudre Valley Hospital in Ft. Collins, and De Paul Hospital in Cheyenne where she retired in 1978. She will be remembered as an avid reader, a hand quilter, and for serving as the "chapter queen" for T.O.P.S. and reaching her weight loss goal in 2002. June is survived by three daughters, Sue Hayden of Cheyenne, Elizabeth Rohde and husband, Stefan, of Greer, SC, and Sharon Benson and husband, Ed, of Aurora, OH; her daughter-in-law, Brenda McMillan of Ft. Collins, CO; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ralph E. McMillan; her second husband, Kenneth E. Neely; her son, Robert McMillan; and her sister, Virginia Leebrick. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 2:00 p.m.at the SonRise Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Joe Arnold officiating. An interment service will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions in June's memory may be made to the SonRise Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 20426, Cheyenne, WY 82003.
