Milton "Milt" Thomas Bittinger, born March 26, 1929 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, died at home on Saturday, April 16, 2011, after a lengthy illness from diabetes, heart trouble, and stoke. He lived in Wyoming since November, 1948. He attended Arkansas State University and received his Bachelors in Science in Education degree. Later he attended Colorado College of Education in Greeley, Colorado, and received his Master's Degree in Social Studies. He also attended classes at University of Wyoming and Colorado State University. He was in the Air Force for 4 years, from 1948 to 1952, during the Korean War, stationed at F. E. Warren Air Force Base, teaching auto mechanics, heavy equipment operation, air conditioning and electricity. He taught at Cheyenne High School for 2 years then East High School for 27 years. He enjoyed and loved all of his students. Due to health problems he was forced to in retire early. He was a Boy Scout Master for 15 years. He received the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver. As member of the Cheyenne Rotary Club he was a past president 1992 to 1993, the Rotarian of the year in 1995 for district 5440. He received an Award for Gratitude for the Inter-district support for many years. He also received many more awards and citations over his many years of service to the community. He is survived by his wife, Darleen, of 60 years; one daughter, Mary Kay Pino and husband, Steve, of Cheyenne; sons, Jim Bittinger and wife, Stacey, of Westminster, Colorado, and Mark Bittinger and wife, Christine, of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Joseph Pino and wife, Thora, Sara Zuniga and husband, Tony, Liz Hensley and husband, David, Thomas Bittinger and wife, Michelle, Jason Bittinger, Amy Bittinger and fiancé, Ambrose Aubuchon; great-grandchildren, Katrina, Eric, Elizabeth, Troy, Jillian, Caleb, Chloe, Bryce, Michael, Theresa, and Chelsea; and one sister, Patsy Johnson of Jackson, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents, James William and Floy Bittinger; a brother, James William Bittinger, Jr.; and a sister, Eda Collins. A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, April 22, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church with The Reverend Kevin Frank officiating. Private inurnment will take place at Mountain View Memorial Park Cemetery. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
