Mrs. Myrtle J. (Schmidt) Volz, 81, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away early Wednesday morning, August 7, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Volz was born November 24, 1931, in the territory of Hawaii to the late Aaron E. and Vera M. (Talbert) Schmidt. Myrtle served as a homemaker caring for her husband and four children. She was an active member of the Women's Moose Lodge, Chapter 1133, and in her spare time she enjoyed puzzle books, receiving pictures of her grandchildren and watching soap operas. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Myrtle is survived by her children, James L. Volz of Cheyenne, Martin L. Volz of Cheyenne, Janie L. Garnhart of Tensleep, WY, and Daniel A. Volz of Cheyenne; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Edwin J. Volz; her brother, Harold W. Schmidt; and her great-granddaughter, Kaeslyn Garnhart. A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, August 12, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Beth El Cemetery with Pastor Mark Rossi officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
