Nancy Jo Poledna Maier, age 82, passed away December 8 in Wheatland, Wyoming.
Nancy was born in Laramie, Wyoming. She graduated from Laramie High School in 1960, and moved to Denver where she was a telephone operator and met Ronald Maier. Following a whirlwind romance, Nancy and Ron eloped to Albuquerque and were married in September but 1961. They moved to Sabetha, Kansas for a couple years, then relocated to Wheatland where Ron worked for Western Union.
Nancy was an amazing homemaker for her family. She loved spending her extra time in her vegetable garden and rose garden.
In 1975, Nancy and Ron purchased their own business, Platte County Music &Vending, which they continued to manage until selling the business to retire. Ron and Nancy fulfilled their dreams of traveling the world together. They visited exotic locales such as the Panama Canal, Thailand, Indonesia, French Polynesia, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico,China, Australia, Egypt and various countries while on cruises in the Mediterranean.
Nancy is survived by her son Randy (Dawn) Maier of Loveland, Colorado, who provided loving care in her last days; her daughter Carrie (David) Lozano of Los Angeles, California; six grandchildren, Christine, Sean, Melissa, Tipton, Haley and Sara; and four great grandchildren, Victoria, Lucas, Charlie and Noelle; and her brothers Gary (Diane) Poledna and Kenneth (Kathy) Poledna. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Maier, and her parents Boyd and Grace Poledna.
Cremation has already taken place at Schrader Funeral Home in Cheyenne, Wyoming. No memorial services will be held, as she hated funerals. We love you, Mom.
