Our beloved sister and aunt, Nancy Lynne Scribner (also known as Nant Nancy and Antsy Nancy by the “littles”) was born to Charles L. and Dorothy J. (Hamer) Scribner on February 9, 1954 in Sioux City, Iowa. Nancy passed away due to complications of diabetes on April 4th, 2025.
The family moved to Cheyenne in 1960, and Nancy attended Fairview Elementary School, where she met many life long friends, Carey Jr. High School and East High School where she graduated in 1972. After high school Nancy attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls SD, graduating in 1976. Her first teaching job was in Lovell WY. She then moved to Cheyenne where she taught at Goins Elementary School. After a number of years of teaching Special Education students, she worked for the Federal Bankruptcy Courts and then the Laramie County School District Administration. She retired in 2018.
Over the years Nancy was a great Aunt to her two nieces, never missing a performance or special occasions. After the nieces grew up and had their own kids, Nancy became a wonderful Great Aunt making numerous treks to Windsor for holidays and birthdays with the “littles” who loved her dearly.
Nancy was a kind soul, active in PEO, Cheyenne Professional Secretaries Association, her HOA, Knitting Club and Bodylines Dance Theatre. She loved helping with and watching the performances at Bodylines. In recent years Nancy enjoyed the Cole Community Dinner Club, a continuation of many early childhood friendships. Nancy was an avid knitter and also made many exquisite beaded and lace art pieces. Many family and friends were recipients of these handmade products. She looked forward to yearly trips to advanced lace workshops every year at the Concordia Sisters of St Joseph in Kansas.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents and stepfather, Richard Tucker and Curt’s partner, Larry Fernandez. She is survived by brother Curt Scribner, brother Bill Scribner, her sister-in-law Gina Scribner, niece Elizabeth Cirbo and husband Lucas, niece Sara Poling and husband Joseph, great nephews Elijah Cirbo and Micah Cirbo, great nieces Emma Poling, Maycee Poling, Charlotte Poling and Ainsleigh Cirbo, also five step siblings and their families.
A service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne, WY. There will be a reception to follow at the church.
