Nellie Holmes

Beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Nellie Mae Holmes, aged 70, a long time resident of Cheyenne, went to be with the Lord after battling a lengthy illness on April 6, 2013. She was born September 3, 1942 in Poteau, OK. Nellie worked at Little America and Mountain Towers. She retired from the Laramie County School District. She was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. Nellie traveled the United States and abroad as a military wife. She enjoyed her road trips, even just day excursions. The family had many picnics and explorations at Vedauwoo, one of her favorite places. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and reading western novels. Nellie's greatest source of pleasure was her children and grandchildren. She opened her home to people and animals in need. She is cherished and remembered by her children, Rebecca (Al) Webb of Cheyenne, James M. Bowles of Ft. Wayne, IN, Rachael (Brad) Baker of Wheatland, Ruth (Todd) Larson of Lompoc, CA, Rosanna (Dean) Brutsman of Cheyenne, and Roxanne (Scott) Workman of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Allen (Megan), Kimberly (Ryan), Brad J., Corbin, Joel, Marshal, Joshua, Dean Jr., Dianna, Dallas, Dakota, Scott, Mason, Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Michael and Isabella; siblings, Carolyn Thornton of OK, her twin Della Moore of OK, Wanda Faye Dorries of CA, Bartis Moore of CA, Fonda Ruiz of CA, Bonnie Williams of OK, Connie Moore of CA, Walter Moore of CA, Linda Cornwell of MO, and Margaret Moore of OK, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar M. and Elsie E. Moore. Those who wish may contribute to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in her memory. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, in the Schrader Chapel with a reception to follow in the Schrader Reception Center. Cremation and services are under the care of Schrader Funeral Home.
