Norma L. Milford, born on June 18, 1942, Baltimore, MD, passed away on August 22, 2024 at the Davis Hospice Center. She dedicated many years of her life serving as the Collection Manager for FEW Credit Union, Wyoming State Employees Credit Union, and the Internal Medicine Group, earning great respect in her professional community.
Norma was a loving and kind-hearted individual, known for her generosity and sharp wit. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and made it a point to bring joy to those around her. Her family was her greatest treasure. She cherished weekly outings to dinner with her son, James Milford, and shared countless adventures traveling with her husband, Walt Milford. Together, they explored all 50 states, and traveled to Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, and France. Some of her fondest travel memories included an Alaskan Cruise, visiting Denali National Park, white-water rafting, zip-lining, and even flying in a pontoon plane. A particular highlight was their remarkable train journey across Canada, which served as the perfect culmination of their travels.
Beyond her travels, Norma had a passion for sewing and quilting, famously displaying a bumper sticker that read, "She who dies with the most fabric wins"—and indeed, she was a winner in that regard. Her love for cooking was evident in her vast collection of nearly 1,000 cookbooks. Reading provided her with endless enjoyment and was yet another testament to her voracious curiosity and zest for life.
Her spirit of altruism was further exemplified through her volunteer work. Norma dedicated over 20 years to the Laramie County Library, where she was responsible for sorting through donated books and played a key role in establishing the Book Sale Room. For her efforts, she received numerous Presidential Volunteer Service Awards. Additionally, she served as a Greeter at St. Mary's Cathedral during weekend masses, warmly welcoming members of her community. Her faith in God and weekly attendance at mass was always a priority for her, no matter what.
Norma is survived by her husband, Walt Milford; her son, James Milford; her sister, Jan Kimmel, and brother-in-law, Jim Kimmel; as well as her sister-in-law, Judy Werner, and brother-in-law, Jack Werner, a niece, and numerous nephews in MA, TX, and FL. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Bullard, and her father, Art Edmonds.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Norma's life. A Prayer Service will be held on September 9, 2024, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Schrader, Aragon, and Jacoby Funeral Home in Cheyenne, WY.
