Patricia R. Guthrie, 85, of Laramie died Sept. 15. She was born Aug. 18, 1931, in Scottsbluff, Neb. Pat's loving spirit and aware consciousness left her aged, failing body with a grace and freedom of character as exemplary as her well-lived existence. With Pat as she passed were her children at her bedside, her loving and connected grandchildren and caring Davis Hospice staff. Family friends, statewide, were near and dear in thought and prayer. As Mary, a hospice volunteer, played classical guitar for Mom at bedside, Patricia embraced a state of unburdened, unconditional love - and moved on - with clear faith in both God's redemption and, therein, reunion with her beloved husband, Jack. Her eyes were filled with wonder. It was awesome, just like her; pure Pat Guthrie. Patricia was preceded in death by Jack and her immediate family. She is survived by two children, Ellen J. Guthrie of Park City, Utah, and John A. Guthrie III of Laramie; and three grandchildren, Devin, Taylor and Ian. Services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Matthews Cathedral in Laramie. Visitation with the family will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the cathedral chapel. Interment of the ashes will follow the service at the cathedral columbarium. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, gifts in Pat's memory please be directed to the funding needs of the UW Art Museum and the Laramie Plains Museum. Thank you.
