Mrs. Patricia (McEwen) Pette, 92, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Mountain Towers Healthcare in Cheyenne. Mrs. Pette was born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 1, 1918. Her family moved to Rockville Center, Long Island, NY, where she attended St. Agnes Grammar School and Southside High School. In 1939, she married Henry Edward Pette who worked at Graumman Aircraft. Following World War II, she worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance and AT&T as a telephone operator. In 1946, her parents moved to Walkersville, MD, where she spent her summer vacations. Eventually, she moved to Portland, OR, where she met and married Robert Tracy, a railroad engineer. She recently moved to Cheyenne to be closer to her son, and she was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. Patricia is survived by her son, E.P. “Stovepipe” Pette and wife, Nancy Sue, of Cheyenne; her sister, Joan Shelton of Maryland; two grandsons, John and Finn Fette, and their mother, Lone Pette; three great-grandsons, Joshua, Cody and Oscar, all of California; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Wendy Pffafhousen; and a special thank you to Maureen Tracy for singing her to heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents; Alice Farrel McEwen and Joseph Patrick McEwen. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home. Services will be held at a later date in Walkersville, MD, where she will be buried with her family.
