Paul Thomas Lafkas, 91, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the Cheyenne Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Paul was born in Cheyenne on May 19, 1932, to Thomas and Angela Lafkas. He graduated from Cheyenne High School in l950. Paul enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier USS Boxer. He often reminisced about ports of call in Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Hawaii, San Francisco, and San Diego. He later earned a Baccalaureate from the University of Northern Colorado in Accounting.
He worked many years for the State of Wyoming as an Appraiser for the Department of Revenue and Taxation. Paul was a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
Paul closely followed University of Wyoming Cowboy and Denver Bronco football. He greatly enjoyed his travels throughout the United States, Mexico, Greece and the Holy Land.
Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Treinen) Lafkas (d.2022), wife, Lael L. Lafkas (d.1981), wife, Barbara (Mleziva) Lafkas (d. 1965); sister and brother-in-law Argie and Father Dean Talagan. He is survived by his stepchildren Valera (Gregg) Dobbin, Wayne (Merla) Miller, and Chris Walter; niece Stacie (Marc) Wade, nephew Paul (Kristi) Talagan, as well as numerous step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, grandnieces. grandnephew, and cousins.
Services for interment are to be held at Beth-El Cemetery on January 11, 2024, at 11 a.m.
