Pedro “Pete” Escobedo, 93, of Cheyenne passed away March 22, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Cheyenne.
He was born June 29, 1927 in Cheyenne to Manuel and Guadalupe Escobedo. He married Kay Gutierrez on May 28, 1955 in Cheyenne. He was a clerk for33 years of service at the Post Office and a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and the American Legion Post #6. He was a WWII Veteran, having served in the US Navy., then went on to service in the US Air Force and Air Force Reserves. Pete loved the great outdoors, fishing, camping, hunting, being the camp cook and socializing at Jo-Ed’s Produce.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Escobedo of Cheyenne; children, Chuck Escobedo of Cheyenne, Peter (Shelly) Escobedo of Tempe, AZ, Ron (Kathy) Escobedo of Cheyenne; Lori (Chip) Galles of Cheyenne and Kathy (Kelly Townsend) Escobedo of Brighton, CO; grandchildren, Mike, Andrew, Brandon, Ben, Daniel, Emily, Jared, Rachel, Austin, Brooke and Aaron; eleven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Connie McCallister, Luce Anspauch, Terry Lamm, Paula Sheperd and Manuel Escobedo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Joe O’Day, Eduarda Wiedenbacker, Beatrice Velazquez, Josie Escobedo, Frank Escobedo and Benjamin Escobedo.
A funeral liturgy will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Cathedral with interment in Beth El Cemetery, with military honors. A reception will follow the interment in the Schrader Reception Center.
