Phyllis Cook

November 30, 1925 — April 5, 2015

Phyllis Louise (Messer) Cook passed away April 5, 2015, at the age of 89. Phyllis was born Nov 30 1925, in Laramie, WY to Phil and Louise (Hunziker) Messer. She grew up in Laramie and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1950 with a BA in Education. Phyllis taught in schools at Medicine Bow, McFadden, and Rock Springs. Later she worked as a Secretary at LCCC until her retirement. Phyllis married Malcolm Cook in 1951, celebrating 63 years together last fall. She enjoyed the outdoors especially when fishing. Additionally, she loved knitting and crocheting, reading, dancing, and spending time with her two granddaughters. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Malcolm; two sons, Michael (Kt) Cook of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Norman (Leslie) Cook of Long Beach, CA; and granddaughters, Elizabeth Cook and Amy Cook. A memory service will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church with The Reverend Elizabeth McVicker officiating. An interment service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery following the reception in Allison Hall. Condolences may be made to the family by going to www.schradercares.com. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home, Cheyenne.
