Phyllis Louise Towns, 85, of Hillsdale, WY, died November 21, 2014 at Lifecare. She was born on August 11, 1929 in Dundy County, Nebraska. Phyllis came to Burns in 1929 and first went to the Lutheran School, graduating from Burns High School. Her college coursework included classes in insurance and computers. Phyllis married Marion Lewis Towns of Hillsdale on June 23, 1946. After living in Cheyenne for a year, they moved to their farm in Hillsdale. They farmed wheat and other crops, raised sheep, cattle, and a poultry operation. She was an excellent wife, mother, cook, seamstress, gardener, and knitter. She was the matriarch and staunch supporter of her family and a good, traditional, and conservative woman. Phyllis worked as a nurse's aide at Memorial and DePaul hospitals, at Gater Industries, and Farmers Insurance Claims Office, before retiring from Wyoming Agricultural Statistics Service. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Judy Evonne Zwieg of Laramie; son, Donald Dean Towns of Hillsdale; grandchildren, Glen, Brenda, Donnell, Laura, Chris, and Dean; great-grandchildren, Forrest, Drew, Ashley, Shanda, Rachel, Jeremy, Draysin, Ellen, Angelo, Zachary, Jenel, Bailey, Justin, Tegan, and Jeffrey; six great-great grandchildren; siblings, Pat, Lois, Kim, and Ralph. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis John Damrow and Martha (Peterson) Damrow; sisters, Bernice, Vaughnetta, Darlene, and Norma; and her beloved husband. A funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m.in Lakeview Chapel at Schrader Funeral Home, with burial at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
