Rachel Kelley

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, with a celebration of her life to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel. An interment service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery. Rachel Sarah Kelley peacefully passed from this mortal sphere on March 18, 2010, just thirteen days after her 98th birthday. Rachel was endowed with a joyful spirit and a ready smile. She was born on her family’s ranch in Evanston, Wyoming on March 5, 1912 where she was the ninth of nine children. She learned frugality, industry, the joys of hard work and how to make homemade bread that was absolutely heavenly. She was a wonderful cook who never let anyone leave her table hungry. She married Orville LeRoy Kelley on June 28, 1934. They had two sons, Randolph LeRoy and Raymond Orville. The family settled in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Orville preceded her in death in May of 1980. Rachel worked at Montgomery Wards for nearly twenty years where she proved herself to be a superior saleswoman. She enjoyed working as a foster grandparent after her retirement from Wards. Her outgoing personality and infectious friendliness made her many good friends throughout her life. Even when she was in severe pain she could manage a smile and a laugh to cheer others. She will be greatly missed but we all look forward to a joyous reunion in the coming years. She is survived by two children, Randolph Kelley and wife, Lucy, and Raymond Kelley and wife, Becky, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren.
