Ramona A. Dunn passed away peacefully on August 18, 2011 at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She loved the life she shared with her husband of almost 64 years, Aulden N. Dunn, working side-by-side with him in business, family life, travel, and gardening. Ramona loved her family and friends, always thoughtfully remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and the passing of others who preceded her in death. She led a life of gratitude and was thankful for her neighbors, friends and family who lived near and far and was a wonderful example for all of us of how to maintain connections that sustain us through good and bad times. Ramona was born in Loveland, Colorado on August 5, 1929 to Hans and Thelma Petersen and was the middle child of three with an older brother Don and a younger sister Doris. She grew up in Loveland and married Aulden Dunn on December 14, 1947. She gave birth to two daughters, Andrea and Sandra in 1951 and 1952. Ramona and Aulden moved to Wyoming with their two daughters in 1953. Ramona was an active parent in PTA and Brownies with her two daughters and she loved to garden, especially growing beautiful flowers. Gladiolas were her favorite flower and she won prizes for them at the Laramie County Fair several years running. She loved to read and shared her love of reading with her daughters, sister and friends. She also took up golf later in life and won the ladies championship at the Cheyenne Municipal Golf course the second year she played. She and her husband loved to travel and were able to visit 48 of the 50 United States making many new friends along the way. Ramona is survived by her husband, Aulden Dunn of Cheyenne, Wyoming and her daughters, Andrea Dunn from Arvada, Colorado, and Sandra Dunn and her son-in law, Dick Barbar from Carmichael, California. She is also survived by her older brother, Donald Petersen and his wife Laura of Longmont, Colorado and her sister, Doris Gertsch of Cheyenne, Wyoming. She also leaves behind two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Ramona was loved by her family and friends and those who wish to honor her memory can make donations to the Cheyenne Botanical Gardens or the Davis Hospice Center. Her life will be honored at a memorial service on Monday at 4 p.m. at the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens and those wishing to send condolences can sign the online guest book at Schrader Funeral Home.
