Reuben John Chavez, 91, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne.
Reuben was born October 4, 1929 in Brighton, Colorado, a son of the late Garbiel and Amada “Emma” (Lucero) Chavez.
Reuben served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He loved to work and he enjoyed 50+ years as a master barber and retired from Civil Service. His many interests included golfing, bowling, cribbage and gambling. His favorite motto was “I’m not here for a long time, just here for a good time”.
Reuben is survived by his wife, Aurora D. (Garcia) Chavez; three children, David (Pamela) Chavez, Laura (Grayson) Fredrickson and Glen (Annette) Chavez; seven grandchildren, Michael, Lewis, Jackie, Rubin, Torin, Upton and Paxton; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two children, Katherine Chavez and Richard Chavez; and six siblings, Trinidad Chavez, Fred Chavez, Annie Trujillo, Mary Porter and Mike Chavez.
A private family service will be held. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home, 2222 Russell Avenue, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001.
