Richard "Dick" Fisher passed to his eternal life on April 24, 2015, at the age of 72 with his family by his side at Davis Hospice Center. He was born on January 5, 1943, in Cheyenne, to parents Helen Marie (Stundon) and Leonard F. Fisher. Dick attended Cheyenne schools and graduated from East High School in 1962 after playing football for East. He served in the United States Army with Headquarters Company, 69th Signal Battalion from 1964 to 1967, serving 16 months in Vietnam from 1966-1967. He returned to Wyoming and met Donna Ellithorpe. They married December 12, 1969, in Broomfield, CO. Dick graduated from the University of Wyoming in May 1973, with a Bachelor's degree in business, being the first in his family earn a degree. He accepted the position of Business Manager at the Wyoming Industrial Institute in Worland, WY, and worked there for two years. He then joined his father's paint contracting business and became co-owner. He worked there for 30 years, retiring in 2006 due to his health. Dick's interests included U.W. and Bronco football, Civil War history, and especially bass fishing in Texas. The highlight of his fishing was a trip to Venezuela for peacock bass. He loved his family and spending time with them and with his dogs. Dick is survived by his wife of 45 years, Donna; son, Rick Fisher, and daughter-in-law, Diana; and grandchildren, Robbie and Stephanie Giomi. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Bernetta (Ryan) and James Stundon, and Herbert and Edith (Garroutte) Fisher; parents-in-law, Russell and Darlene (Gray) Ellithorpe; and his dear canine companion, Valentine. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Beth El Cemetery with Pastor David Stratton officiating. Donations may be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.
