Richard Steele

Richard "Dick" Steele, 79, of Cheyenne, went home to our Lord on December 1, 2014. Richard was born to Victor and Ester Steele on April 1, 1935 in Fairbury, NE. He is from a very patriotic family. Richard joined the U.S. Navy in 1953. He served during the Korean and Vietnam wars in his 20 year naval career. He retired with numerous awards including the rare China Service Metal in 1973. He moved to Cheyenne and began his 30 year career with the United State Postal Service. He was a dedicated worker and after two retirements continued to work at Sam's Club until his final retirement in 2013. Richard adored children and served as a troop master. He loved to ride his Harley and tend his vegetable garden in the summer. Fresh air and sunshine always made him happy. He attended First Church of the Nazarene and later attended Calvary Chapel. He was a traveler in the military and again in the last month's of his life. Above all his accomplishments, Richard will forever be remembered as a strong, hardworking, honest, loving, loyal, God fearing man, who always put God and his family first. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; brother, Rodney & Pauline, Pauline Kolar; children, Heather and Alonzo, Richard, II and Melvin; three stepchildren, Patrick and Rachel, Eric, Marc; grandchildren, Cody, Sara and Roger, Richard, Shane, Elizabeth and Melvin, RiAnna, and Molly; step-grandchildren Ben, Sarah and Joanna; great-grandchildren, Victoria and Jason; and countless nieces and nephews. He united with his family, Victor and Ester, Shirley, Kermit, Dale, Prudence, Patricia and Reona. Visitation will be Saturday noon to 5:00 p.m. at Schrader Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Chapel with military honors. Interment will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Memorial Gardens.
