Richard Gene "Dick" Sutherlund, Master Sgt. USAF (ret.), 72, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away December 20, 2016, at Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma, Arizona. Dick was born April 19, 1944, in Reed City, Michigan, a son of the late Roy and Viola (Mervyn) Sutherlund. He married Beverly H. Cram on May 2, 1965. He graduated from Reed City High School and also attended Farris State College. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1963, serving honorably for 20 years until his retirement in April, 1983. He then worked for (Rockwell) Boeing International and retired from his position as engineer in April, 2007. Dick's many interests included spending time with family, camping, fishing, woodworking, traveling and splitting time between Cheyenne and many adventures on the road seeing America with his beloved wife. Dick and Bev settled down in Yuma for the winters, enjoying sunshine and many joyful activities. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Sutherlund; two children, Dawn (Ron) Williams and Steve Sutherlund; grandchildren, Elisha (Adam) Jenkins, Erin Williams, Ryan Williams, Brian Muller, Shane Roush, Brandon (Kasie) Sheridan, Brady (Laura) Sheridan, Sara (Travis) Jett and Tyler Lewis; several great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Sutherlund of Reed City, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, David Sutherlund; and sister, Donna Rolston. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 218 East 19th Street, Cheyenne, WY 82001, or a charity of one's choice.
