Ricky Lowell Croissant, 65, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at his home. Ricky was born in Greeley to Al and ErmaJean Croissant and grew up on the family farm near Hardin where he attended a one-room school house and graduated from Platte Valley. In 1968, Ricky joined the Navy serving aboard the USS Alfred Cunningham and USS Princeton. He was the head radar man for the Apollo 10 shuttle recovery mission and received commendation for his contribution. He received a National Defense Service medal and Vietnam Service medal with one Bronze Star. While living in Washington, Ricky worked as a draftsman and in the aerospace industry. His final place of employment was the NASDA as an Enumerator in Cheyenne. Ricky had an independent, curious spirit, and he was very intelligent. He appreciated nature, art, reading, poetry, listening to music and playing guitar. Ricky is survived by his children, Kari Lezama (Nicolas), Christopher and Cassandra Croissant; grandchildren, Elysia and Talia Lezama, Vera Croissant, and Hayden, Nola and Breckin Croissant; sisters, Kathy Miles (Mike) and Susan Croissant; nephews, Ben and Joe Barco; and family friends, Roxie Kersbergen, Linda Peters and Jim Barco. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Sherwood Park Baptist Church in Greeley, Colorado with refreshments following. Donation in Ricky's name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
