Mr. Robert G. Barker, 89, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 27, 2014, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Mr. Barker was born November 21, 1924, in LaPorte, Indiana, a son of the late George T. and Aleen (Silvey) Barker. Robert served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Sterlet SS 392 during World War II from 1942 to 1946. Following the war, he remained in the Navy Reserves through the Korean War. He graduated from Ft. Lewis College in Colorado with a Bachelor of Science degree and taught High School Science in Ashland, MT. He later worked as a forestry technician for the United States Forest Service in North Dakota and Nevada, retiring in 1995. Robert is survived by his son, Lee Barker of Mishawaka, IN; a sister, Pat Allen of LaPorte, IN; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. A private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Schrader Funeral Home, Cheyenne.
