Mr. Robert Arno Henry Felde, 71, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Cheyenne. Mr. Felde was born September 3, 1939, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, a son of the late Fred and Ruth (Mundt) Felde. A Purple Heart recipient, Robert was a combat veteran serving two tours of duty for the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as the Chief Warrant Officer 2 after 24 years of honorable service. During his service in Vietnam, he was exposed to Agent Orange and because of this exposure and effects it had on his health, Robert became an advocate for those combat veterans who returned home from active duty. He was actively involved in the Wounded Warrior Program and volunteered to drive veterans from Greeley to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Cheyenne. He also supported the local VFW and served as a member of the Honor Guard. He was a patriotic man who loved his country and also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors where he loved to hunt and fish. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Schuette) Felde of Greeley, CO; four children, Bruce Ronald Felde of Morgantown, WV, Keith William Felde of Stephens City, VA, Glen Thomas Felde of Ft. Leonardwood, MO, and Deanna L. Felde of Greeley, CO; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Suzanne Fenn of Howards Grove, WI, and Shirley Aschenbach of Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Felde. A private interment service with military honors will be held at a later date.
