A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Schrader Chapel in Cheyenne. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens. Robert Arthur Gillett, 83, died Jan. 14 in Purcell, Okla. He was born Nov. 15, 1926, to Arthure and Hester (Riley) Gillett in Anselmo, Neb. He was raised in Burns and graduated from Burns High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married V. Maxine Judy on Sept. 8, 1944, in Cheyenne. He worked as a section foreman for Union Pacific Railroad before his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the American Legion and the First United Methodist Church in Hillsdale. He enjoyed hunting and fishing every weekend and wood working. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; children, Sharon Hardcastle of Purcell, Rodney Gillett of Wichita, Kan., Roger Gillett of Hulett; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
