Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, July 30th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel. An interment service will be held at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. Mr. Robert R. Harmon, 83, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 27, 2010, at Cheyenne Health Care. Mr. Harmon was born May 25, 1927, in Cheyenne, a son of Frank Sanford and Mary H. (Sibert) Harmon. Robert attended Johnson Elementary and also Johnson Junior High School before completing his education locally at Cheyenne High School, graduating in 1945. He began his college education at the University of Wyoming and prior to graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army serving in Japan at the completion of World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Laramie to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, graduating in 1951. He owned and operated Capitol Drug Store and as a licensed Wyoming hearing aid specialist, he owned and operated Capitol Hearing Aid Center, retiring from his profession in August, 1997. He was a member of The Wyoming Hearing Aid Specialists Association, The International Hearing Society, and The Wyoming Board of Hearing Aid Specialists, serving as the Board Secretary from 1977-95. He also served for over 45 years as a member and a Past President of the Cheyenne Lions Club, a past member of the Elks Lodge #660 and the VFW. His many interests included reading, cooking, hunting, fishing and attending football games, especially the University of Wyoming Cowboys. Mr. Harmon is survived by his loving wife, Carla F. (Klofkorn) Harmon of Cheyenne; three cousins, Virginia Fossey of Moab,UT, Mary Helen Shoemaker of Casper, WY, and Margaret Way of Prague, OK; and many wonderful friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Frank Sibert Harmon; and a sister, M. June Dykes. Expressions of sympathy in Robert’s memory may be made to the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, Meals on Wheels, or a charity of one’s choice.
