Robert Wilber

Bob Wilber age 71, 0f Julesburg, CO, passed away early Saturday a.m. January 11, 2014, at the VA long term care unit in Cheyenne, WY. Robert Charles Wilber, son of Robert and Ola June (Stone) Wilber was born on September 14, 1942 in Cheyenne, WY. He attended several schools; St. Mary's Grade School, Cheyenne, WY, a country school south of Julesburg and in 1960 graduated from Julesburg High School. In 1960 he joined the United State Navy where he became part of the original UDT/SEALS Brotherhood and served three tours in Vietnam. On November 15, 1969 he was united in marriage to Charlene Johnson at Hot Springs, SD. After his discharge from the Navy in 1968 he drove cattle truck with his father and uncle. He continued driving long hauls in 48 states hauling cattle, grain, Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and numerous other freight for 29 years. He then suffered numerous illnesses and had years of failing health, only endured because of his faith, his love and involvement with his grandchildren, truck collection and the Seals brotherhood. He was a kind and loving father, grandfather and husband. Survivors include his wife Charlene of Julesburg; son, Andy and his wife Marilyn of Julesburg; daughter, Bobbi of Lakewood, CO; grandsons, Devin, Bryce, and Korbyne; granddaughter, Bryanna; great-grandson, Noah of Englewood, CO; brother, Billy and wife Cindy of Chappell, NE; sister, Marcia and husband, Bob of Cheyenne; sister-in-law, Cindy Wilber of Chappell, NE; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dennis. Funeral services will be at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Big Spring Cemetery, Big Springs, NE. Cremation has taken place under the care of Schrader Funeral Home in Cheyenne and online condolences may be made at www.schradercares.com.
