Roderick McClure

February 14, 1922 — July 1, 2011

After a courageous struggle with Alzheimer's, Mac peacefully joined his Lord Jesus Christ July 1, 2011. Mac's adventuresome life began February 14, 1922 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He loved to travel and saw the world while serving in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Senior Master Sargent in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Then he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement after which he and his beloved wife, Judy McClure, travelled a great deal, often using his extensive skills to work on mission projects. Not one to use many words to express his convictions, the work of Mac's hands conveyed his willingness to serve God and a steadfast faith in his Lord Jesus. His desire and capacity to learn and retain knowledge was astounding and he could easily converse with any person from any walk of life. He loved to tell stories to the little ones and appreciated a good joke. Mac was a very hard worker and dedicated himself as the ultimate provider for his family. Friends knew (and strangers learned) he was always one to help without hesitation and if asked, he would "give the shirt right off his back". Mac is survived by his bride, Judy, whom he treasured for 62 years; four of his five much loved children - Patricia Milton (Wayne), Erik McClure (Jo Ann), Mark McClure, Christina McClure- Pennington (Mark); ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mac was preceded in death by his parents, sister, brother and son always knowing that for those in Christ, "...to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011, in the Schrader Chapel with Guy Landers officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery followed by a reception in the Schrader Reception Facility. In lieu of flowers, please send any gifts to Aspen Wind Memory Care, 4010 N. College Drive, Cheyenne, WY 82009 or Davis Hospice Center, 6000 Sycamore Road, Cheyenne, WY 82009.
