Roger Lawson

Roger D. Lawson, 87, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017, at the Davis Hospice Center. Roger was born June 21, 1929, in Denver, Colorado, a son of the late Paul and Minnie (Detwiller) Lawson. Roger served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 44 years, starting as a billing clerk and retiring as an engineer. His many interests included woodworking, camping and traveling. He will be remembered as a prankster who loved to tell jokes, and as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Roger is survived by his loving wife, Irene (Klein) Lawson; six children, Sharron Thompson (Glen) Roger Lawson, Jr. (Marlene), Connie Breach, Bill James (Diane) and Judy Kosmicki; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Gary James and Jerry James; two infant grandsons, Jeremy McCain and Eric James; a brother, Norman Lawson; and a sister-in-law, Nicki Lawson. A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew's Anglican Church. An interment service with military honors will be held in the spring at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifeChoice Pregnancy Care Center of Cheyenne or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
