Ronald M. Bailey was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 9, 1941 and passed away quietly at his home with his loving wife, Linda, and daughter, Debbie, at his side on October 20, 2017. He was raised in Chicago and graduated at Schurz High School in 1961, After graduating, he enlisted into the United States Air Force as a member of the Air Police. During his military career, Ron served on bases in Germany, Iceland, Canada, as well as several United States bases including F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne. Ron met his wife, Linda, and her family in Canada and they were later married on November 15, 1977 in Cheyenne. After retiring from the military in 1983, he moved to Aurora, Colorado and later returned to Cheyenne in 1990. Ron was employed as a Security Officer with Laramie County Community College and retired as Director of Campus Security and Safety in 2012. After retiring from Laramie County Community College, Ron served the City of Cheyenne by being employed as a Community Service Officer for the Cheyenne Police Department. In this capacity, he was nominated as "Civilian Employee of the Year" in 2016. While in residing in Cheyenne, Ron participated in many community activities, including the Cheyenne Frontier Days Parade Committee in 1977. He was named as Cheyenne Frontier Days "Volunteer of the Year" in 1998 and become a member of the CFD Heels in 2000. Ron was also a member of the Kiwanis Club and worked numerous events including the annual Clam Bake and the Cheyenne Greek Festival. He was also a life member of the Security Police Association. Ron's community work continued on during his employment at LCCC, by volunteering for many events at the community college. Those that know Ron realize that he had a deep and abiding love for his loving wife, Linda, for his family and friends, his country, and his community. His entire life was about service and his family. Ron's surviving family include his wife, Linda; son, Rog (Laura) of St. Louis, Missouri; daughters, Deborah (Leonard) of Aurora, Colorado, and Val of Liberty, Missouri; sister-in-law, Sharon; grandchildren, Travis, Lauren, Josh, Jordan, Skylor and Jarod; and great-granddaughter, Taylor. Those that know Ron, he had many friends that he considered as his extended family. At his request, all of those friends and extended family will be his honorary pallbearers. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother, and brother-in-law. A memory service will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cheyenne Hills Church with Pastor Taylor officiating. An interment service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations are being accepted by Linda to be used for their donation of choice and if possible, to establish a memorial scholarship in his honor at Laramie County Community College.
