Ronald Gabehart

Ronald Gabehart, known to his friends and loved ones as Ron, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024, at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Ron's life was filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to his family and country.

Born on March 12, 1960, in Delta, Colorado, Ron grew up with a strong sense of patriotism and duty. This would later lead him to serve proudly in the United States Marine Corps for six years. During his military service, he completed two tours in Okinawa, Japan. Ron's time in the Marine Corps shaped his character and instilled in him a strong work ethic and unwavering loyalty.

Following his honorable discharge from the Marines, Ron continued his dedication to serving his country by working for the United States Air Force at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne. For fifteen years, he worked diligently in various roles at the base. Ron started his career working at the Youth Center before transitioning to the Warehouse and HazMat building. His commitment and professionalism earned him respect from both colleagues and superiors alike.

While Ron's passion for his work was evident to all who knew him, it was his love for his family that truly defined him. He cherished every moment spent with Brenda, his loving wife of 12 years. Theirs was a partnership built on trust, support, and shared joy. 

Ron took great pride in being a father figure to Alice Lamphere, Brenda's daughter from a previous relationship. He often teased Alice affectionately when she colored her hair by calling her a "Smurf," which always brought laughter and happiness into their home. Ron's son Matthew followed in his footsteps by joining the military, a choice that filled him with immense pride and joy.

Ron was a man of vibrant personality and profound kindness. His gregarious nature ensured he was well-liked by all his coworkers and friends. Ron's distinctive voice carried far and wide, and not once did anyone have to utter the words, "Ron, we can't hear you," as his boisterous presence commanded attention wherever he went.

In his leisure time, Ron indulged in a variety of hobbies. He was an avid gun owner, finding solace and contentment in the world of marksmanship. Nature called to him, and he found delight in camping trips and fishing expeditions. These activities allowed him to unwind and connect with loved ones amidst the beauty of the great outdoors.

Sports fandom ran deep within Ron's veins, as he passionately supported both the Dallas Cowboys and Nebraska Cornhuskers. His unwavering loyalty led to countless friendly rivalries with his wife, who happened to be a Denver Broncos fan. Their playful banter brought laughter into their lives and highlighted the strong bond they shared.

 Ron's proudest accomplishments were many, reflecting his unwavering dedication across various aspects of his life. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps, valiantly defending the principles he held dear. The honor he felt for his son Matthew's service in the United States Armed Forces swelled within him, reminding him that dedication to family extended across generations. Ron's commitment to his job at F.E. Warren Air Force Base exemplified his unyielding work ethic, while his devotion to Brenda and their blended family demonstrated that love knows no boundaries.

 Ron leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will endure forever. He is survived by cherished family members who will forever hold him close in their hearts. Among them are his wife Brenda, son Matthew who currently serves in the United States Armed Forces, Father Don of Crescent, Iowa, brother Dan, Matthew's wife Briana, step-daughter Alice Lamphere, granddaughter Crystene of Denver, Colorado, and daughter Dawn Gabehart of Council Bluffs, Iowa.

 Ronald Gabehart's remarkable life serves as an enduring testament to the power of love, family, and service. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his spirit forever guide and inspire us to cherish our loved ones and embrace every precious moment life has to offer. Rest in peace, Ron, your memory will always be treasured.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 16 at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Chapel in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
