Ronald Schumacher

June 2, 1935 — July 10, 2019

Ronald John Schumacher, Sr. 84, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2019. He was born to Anthony Matthew and Dorothy "Doris" Schumacher on June 2, 1935 in Kenmare, North Dakota. Ronald was raised as a farmer, and attended St. Agnes Academy. Ronald met the love of his life, Annella Marie Kelsch while in school. They were married on July 2, 1956 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Linton, ND. The newlyweds were spotlighted on the Lawrence Welk Show during their honeymoon. Soon after their wedding, they moved to Moses Lake, WA for Ronald's job at Boeing. Here, they welcomed their first son, John. Ronald moved his family back to Kenmare to work for Schlumberger. Here, Ronald welcomed his sons Daniel and Jamie. Ronald was transferred to Rock Springs, WY in 1960 when he began his career with the railroad. Here the young couple welcomed three sons; Robert, Tim and Ron Jr. Ron proudly assumed his position as an engineer where he continued for 38 years until his retirement in Rawlins. While working for the railroad, Ronald created Schu Trenching and taught all his sons the value and skill of hard work. While busy raising his family and working, Ronald was a dedicated and active member of the Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He also was very involved with the Rawlins Elks Club and Junior Old Timer's. Even after retirement, Ronald continued working various jobs. Serving others throughout his life, Ronald was a generous, loving, humorous, and caring man. His last words to his wife of 63 years were " You know that you're my sweetheart and I love you!" Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Annella; sons, John (Kathy), Jamie (Kate), Robert (Lorrie), Tim, and Ron Jr. (Trish); grandchildren, Cody, Kaeleigh, Megan, Nicole, Luke, Brandon, Monica, Logan, Derek, Tyler, Matthew, Eric, Brian, Daniel, Brenda, Jon, Spencer, Cooper, Jacob, Kyle, and Brianne; 23 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ronald is preceded in death by his son, Daniel James Schumacher; sister Marion; and brothers, Leo and Paul, and brother-in-law Raymond. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a Vigil for the Deceased will be recited at 3:00 p.m. at Schrader, Aragon, and Jacoby Funeral Home. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Services are under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
