Cheyenne

Retired U.S. Army Colonel, Attorney, and Past Grand Master of Wyoming Masons

Ronald Triggs, 78, passed away in the evening on March 11, 2025.

Born in Hastings, Nebraska on August 16, 1946, Ron spent his formative years across Wyoming—in Rock Springs, Casper, Sheridan, and finally Cheyenne—places that helped shape the strong, principled man he became.

Ron was a proud Army veteran and public servant, retiring as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, Infantry. He was commissioned as a 2LT in 1971 after graduating with a BA in Political Science from University of Wyoming and attended Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning, GA later that year. After returning from Active Duty, Ron worked for the Wyoming Land Office and began his Master of Public Administration degree, graduating in 1980. He then earned his law degree from George Mason University (Arlington, VA) in 1981 and returned to serve as the Attorney for the Laramie County Sheriff's Department until 1982.

Ron then joined the Sullivan Law Firm and honed his litigating talents. In 1986 he ventured out and opened his own law firm, staying in practice until 2018. He dedicated many years to the legal profession with the same discipline and integrity he brought to military service.

A lifelong enthusiast of firearms and reloading, Ron was known for his sharp wit, love of political banter, delightfully twisted sense of humor, and a deep appreciation for classic cars and military history.

His passions were matched by his commitment to community and brotherhood, he was honored to be PastMaster, Cheyenne Lodge #1, AF&AM, Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge in Wyoming, AF&AM (2005-06), and Chairman of the Grand Lodge of Wyoming Jurisprudence Committee. He was further honored by being chosen as a 33° Scottish Rite Mason, as was his father, Eldon Triggs Sr., one of the very few father / son duo honorees in the country.

Ron is survived by his three children: sons Anderson from Palm City, FL, Eldon (Lindsay) Triggs in Auburn, AL, and daughter Catherine L. Anderson-Kincaid in San Diego, CA; and five grandchildren, including Christian, George, and Ronan Triggs and Hudson and Cooper Anderson-Kincaid. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon Sr. and Beverly Triggs, and his beloved daughter, Angel J. Triggs. He is also survived by several people who were as family to him including George Anderson, a man who is as much of a brother as Ron had, Deborah Bacashihua, his dearest friend and confident, and his bonus daughter Gina Chartier.

His legacy of service, strength, and spirited conversation and debate lives on through those who knew and loved him.
