Rudolph "Rudy" Gomez, 87, of Cheyenne passed away April 19, 2018 at Davis Hospice Center. He was born July 17, 1930 in Rawlins, WY to Jesus and Ella Gomez. He married Polly Petty on November 11, 1956 in Elko, NV. With his deep devotion and patriotism to our country, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. Rudy was a natural scholar. He earned his bachelor's degree from Utah State, his master's degree from Stanford and his doctorate from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He was a professor and university administrator. Rudy was inducted into the Rawlins High School Hall of Fame and was a proud member of the Class of 1948. He is survived by his wife, Polly Gomez of Cheyenne; children, Jennifer (Sherry) Gomez of San Antonio, TX and Clay P. Gomez of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren, Rebekah L. Gomez, Sarah K. Gomez and their mother, Irene MacLean, all of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters-in-law, Marless Gomez of Cheyenne, Barbara Ayala of McMinnville, OR and Lynn P. Bush of Milford, PA and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Robert Ayala, Helen Woodbury, Carmen Rothaermel, Peter Ayala, Reuben Gomez, Maria Gomez and Gilbert Gomez.
