Mr. Russell Ray Ross, 82, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. Russell was born May 22, 1928, in Steamboat, Iowa, son of Albert and Jennie Ross. Following his graduation from high school, Russell enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Korea during the Korean War. Following his return to the states, he married Grace Rodriguez on December 4, 1950. He continued his service in the Air Force until his retirement and then worked as a cook for Civil Service on F.E. Warren Air Force Base. His many interests included gardening, watching television, taking rides around Cheyenne, and doting on his wife of over 60 years. He was a loving husband, father, uncle and friend, and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Russell is survived by his loving wife, Grace Ross of Cheyenne; his son, Michael Ross of Ft. Collins, CO; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, John Ross. At Russell's request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at 4:30 p.m. at Olivet Cemetery with The Reverend David Stratton officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy in Russell's memory may be made to the Davis Hospice Center, 6000 Sycamore, Cheyenne, WY 82009.
