Ruth Frances "Sue" Mayer died August 21, 2014 at the UC Hospital in Denver. As she often said "I'm old, nearly ninety" and she was ready to reunite with her beloved husband. Sue was born in Lewistown, Montana Sept. 11, 1924 and raised on a cattle ranch in her early years. She cherished the time she spent riding horseback with her father Tony Weingart. After graduating from high school she started nursing school for possible duty in World War II. During her early months of training she met a young soldier, Leonard Mayer in Bozeman, MT also preparing for duty. On May 21, 1948 that friendship became a marriage that lasted 62+ years, produced three children Mark, Scott, and Joni plus 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Sue spent her working life as a registered nurse working in health care. She finished her career at the Veterans Hospital in Cheyenne, a job she loved! Sue was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Leonard. She is survived by her three children, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
