Ruth McDonald

Ruth Alene (Hughes) McDonald, 94, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, died September 10, 2016, at the Davis Hospice Center, following a 12 year struggle with dementia. A Vigil for the Deceased was held on Saturday, September 10th at 7:30 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Sunday, September 11th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with longtime family friend, Father Mike Carr, officiating. Ruth was born April 7, 1922, in Briggsdale, Colorado. She is survived by three children, James Baker (Shirley) of Nampa, ID, Jeanne Bryan (Gene) of Vail, AZ, and Judy Stevens (Bob) of Janesville, WI; seven grandchildren, Lynne Boomgaarden, Jennifer Stevens, Kristy Ells, Sue Frank, Gerrit Rap, Jodi Simmons and Janna Gray; 14 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren with three more on the way. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty, Laura and Shirley; grandson, Michael Stevens; and Pepi, THE poodle. Pall bearers will by Ruth's grandsons, Rick Boomgaarden, Tim Frank, Paul Jacob, Ryan Anderson, D.J. Puente, Tyler Rap, Kolton Rap, Nick Pflipsen, Jason Osborne and Zeke Marquez. Ruth was a long-time hair dresser at Elaine's Beauty Shop in Cheyenne. She also resided in several other Wyoming communities, including 20 years in Thermopolis where she managed several businesses, plus several years in California. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cheyenne. Family members want to extend special thanks to the staff at Pointe Frontier, Aspen Wind and the Davis Hospice Center for their loving care and attention for "Grandma Ruth" and to the staff at Wyoming Bank & Trust for all their many years of assistance. Ruth never forgot "her babies"- the grand, great and great-great grandkids, her beloved grandmother, Lillie Hale, nor her strawberry yogurt. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ruth's memory to the St. Joseph's Children's Home in Torrington, Prevent Child Abuse Wyoming or the Wyoming-Colorado Children's Society, both in Cheyenne, or the charity of their choice.
