Sam Holmes

Sam K. Holmes of Cheyenne passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Mt. Tower’s Healthcare in Cheyenne. He was 67 years old. Sam Keith Holmes was born January 13, 1944 in Thayer, Missouri, the son of Sherman and Lillian (Reif) Holmes. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and after retiring remained in the Civil Service as a carpenter. He married Pauline Marie Miller on December 21, 1963 in Avoca, Wisconsin, in which the couple raised 3 children. Sam was a member of the American Legion. He loved the outdoors, especially camping, hiking, fishing, gardening and traveling. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Sam Keith Holmes is survived by his loving wife, Pauline Holmes; his daughters, Brenda M. Mee and Tami L. Read of Meridian, Idaho; six grandchildren, Kenny Randels, Branden, Alicia, and Kody Mee , Mathew and Jason Read. He is also survived by his brothers, CHarles Holmes of Alton, Missouri, Gilbert Holmes of Washington, Missouri, his sisters, Rose Hoerstkamp of New Haven, Missouri and Elizabeth Thompson of Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael A. Holmes; and two brothers, Joe and Ben Holmes. Visitation will be Thursday, 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schrader Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday at Schrader Chapel with the Reverend Delbert Hansen officiating. Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens following services.
