Scott Flack

Scott R. Flack, age 46, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away January 21, 2019 in Cheyenne. Scott was a beloved and adored husband of Kimberly Flack (Wood) and loving father to his children Lily, Wilson and Finn Flack, and his stepchildren, Emily and Tristan Nicholson, Tyler Juzbasic, and Randy Prewett. He was a dear brother to Tim Flack, Maggie Sewell (Maritch) and Mike Maritch. He loved and had so many fond memories of his grandparents' greenhouse in Pennsylvania and his good times with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Born in Cavalier, North Dakota to Ronald and Connie (Maritch) Flack, he grew up in Racine, Wisconsin where he rode skateboards and discovered his love of volleyball. He joined the US Air Force in 1993 and remained an active duty service member until 2001, following which he joined the Reserves for over five years. While serving in the air force he was stationed in Alaska, Kansas and Wyoming and played on the USAF Men's Volleyball team. He entered Newman University as a 30-year-old freshman to play on their new men's volleyball team. Scott was deployed twice for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Wherever he went, three things were constant: his love of his family and friends, his love of volleyball, and his amazing ability to make people laugh. And it was because of those three things that Scott was able to make lifelong connections with so many people during his life. What Scott, Kim and his ex-wife Sarah (Compton) did as a blended family absolutely amazed people. People asked them if they would have a class about how to co-parent after divorce. They would laugh (and maybe scoff) "You can't teach this!" They accomplished it because there was nothing Scott wouldn't do for his kids. Nothing Kim or Sarah wouldn't do. Once settled in Cheyenne in 2003, he began to permanently influence the volleyball community with his patience, kindness, and sense of humor. His passion grew. He started a free outdoor summer "Volleyball in the Park" program where anyone could join and have fun or learn some fundamentals, and also the Eclipse Volleyball Club with his ultimate goal to see a boy's team come to Wyoming. An avid "Facebooker", Scott shared pictures of his beautiful wife, his proud moments as a dad, and generally kept people entertained. His love of cat shirts is unmatched. His annual Cheyenne Frontier Days posts were highly anticipated and will be sorely missed. In addition to volleyball, Scott enjoyed roller coasters, writing, drawing, doodling, and was a voracious reader, many times reading at least six books at a time. He was a huge fan of all sports, especially football and basketball. The number of people whom he touched is truly remarkable and he is loved and missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A memory service will be Wednesday, January 30th at 10:00 a.m. at Element Church with burial to follow in Beth El Cemetery. Attendees are invited to a reception at Element Church following the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donating to Grace For 2 Brothers (a local non-profit for suicide prevention and support to survivors of suicide loss), or the Scott Flack Memorial Fund to benefit Kim and the children. Services are under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
