Setsuko Luhr, 79, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012, at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Setsuko was born November 19, 1932, in Nagoya, Japan, daughter of Zenkichi and Sakae Okawa. She met William Luhr while he was stationed in Japan with the United States Air Force and they were married in March of 1958 in Japan. Shortly after marrying, they returned to Montana, and then moved to Cheyenne in 1965. Known as "Sue" by her friends, she made a career for herself as a beautician, owning Yellowstone Beauty Salon in the 70's and later Unique Beauty Salon, spanning a total of about 20 years. Sue always enjoyed learning about the latest fashions and attended conferences around the country to improve her skills. In her leisure time she loved to travel, making a few trips back to Japan to visit family, but her favorite times were spent on cruise ship adventures. Feisty and independent with a strong will to succeed paints a good picture of this small package with an infectious smile. She will be missed. Setsuko is preceded in death by her husband, William, and is survived by her son, Wesley, residing in Laramie. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at 12:30 p.m. in the Schrader Drawing Room with Pastor Donald Blomberg officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
