Shelldon Ray Skelcher of Scottsbluff, NE, died on November 23rd, 2016 at the age of 55. Shelldon was born on February 8, 1961 in Torrington, Wyoming to Dan Skelcher and Mary (Jenkins) Gravel. He was wed briefly to Katherine Brooks in 1984 in Cheyenne, which was followed by the birth of his daughter, Shannon. Shelldon remarried on October 10th 2003 to Betsy (Thornton) Burg - gaining a daughter, Wynne, and a son, Alec. A lifelong learner, Shelldon completed undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Wyoming in Education, Public Administration, and Law. After earning his Juris Doctorate, he held several positions as a non-profit advocate/attorney for individuals with disabilities. His career concluded as managing attorney for Legal Aid of Nebraska in Scottsbluff. Outside of his career, he enjoyed hot summer days at the lake, playing with his canine companion, Gibson, collecting coins, curating his music collection, and tending to his much cared-for garden. Shelldon will be loved and missed by his surviving wife, Betsy; daughters, Shannon Skelcher (Justin Earnshaw) and Wynne Burg; son, Alec Burg; brothers, Tim Skelcher and Robert Gravel; and sister, Sherri Rorabeck (Mike). Shelldon is also survived by his father and mother in-law, George and Linda Thornton, sister in-law, Tracey McMackin (Jerry), and brother in-law Matt Thornton (April) as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; step father, Tim Gravel; and former wife. A private family service was held on Friday, December 2nd at Mountain View Memorial Park in Cheyenne, WY.
