Shirley Eileen McLelland (Milton) of Cheyenne, passed away Wednesday, February 15, at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. She was born in Wheatland, to Gale and Lodisa Milton on January 6, 1942.
Shirley grew up in Torrington with her twin brothers, Wayne and Dwain Milton, and her best friend, Judy Walker. She graduated from Torrington High School May 1960.
On 12-20-1968, Shirley began her 54 year marriage to the love of her life, Robert (Bob) McLelland. They met and fell in love on the dance floor. He held her hand from the first dance, to the last. Shirley raised four boys, five if you count Robert. Tyler (Cathy) Vasko, Scott Vasko, Kelly (Donna) Vasko, and Kyle McLelland. This marriage also brought two stepchildren, Robin Chisolm and Dan McLelland (Lenora) into the family.
While raising the boys on a ranch in Wheatland, Shirley made time to participate in bowling leagues, civic and church organizations. She was an active member of All Saint’s Episcopal Church. After the boys got older, Shirley developed her talent for painting. She was gifted in all mediums, but painting was her passion. After her move to Cheyenne, Shirley remained a prolific and generous artist, donating countless works to The Christmas House. She made many lasting friendships and fellowships with membership in PEO Sisterhood- Chapter S and Wyoming Civic League of Cheyenne, as was well as St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
Shirley is survived by her beloved Robert, sons Tyler, Scott, Kelly, Kyle, Dan, and daughter Robin, her brothers Wayne (Patricia) Milton, and Michael Milton, and her greatest joy, her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents, Gale Milton, Lodisa Morris, brothers, infant Tyler Jay and Dwain Milton.
Cremation services have been provided by Schrader, Aragon & Jacoby.
Father Rick Veit will officiate a Celebration of Life service at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1908 Central Avenue, Cheyenne on February 25, 2023 at 10 o’clock am. Memorial donations to cover the cost of medical and burial expenses may be sent to Scott Vasko, P.O. Box 330, Pine Bluffs, WY 82082.
