Stanley "Stan" Georg Stefanik, 62, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2013, surrounded by family and friends at Davis Hospice Center. Stan was born on February 4, 1951, in Newport Beach, California. In his youth he spent time on the beach surfing and traveling with his mother from Mexico to Seattle. Their journey would eventually lead them to Cheyenne. He attended Central High School and graduated from the University of Wyoming. His passion was music and through the years belonged to several bands in the Cheyenne area. The most recent being the J. Rivera Band. He was the bass player and an outstanding blues singer. Stan liked kicking it and watching all football, basketball, golf and baseball games. Stan was a member of the Airport Gold Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Esther of Cheyenne; son, Steven Stefanik of Arizona; a grandson and granddaughter; his sisters-in-law, Theresa Velez-Balay of Sacramento, CA, Carmel Rodriguez (Jerry) of Cheyenne, Diana Martinez of Cheyenne, and Cathy Collins of Cheyenne; brothers-in-law, Juan Martinez (Lori) of Fresno, CA, and David Martinez of Cheyenne; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves a number of faithful friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys L. Theil. A celebration of Stanley's life will begin with a Vigil for the Deceased on Friday, December 27, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. with a Memory Service to follow at Schrader Chapel. Please be prepared to share a memory of Stanley. Cremation has taken place under the care of Schrader Funeral Home. Friends who wish may contribute to the American Cancer Society.
