Stella Celina DeHerrera

Stella Celina DeHerrera, 93, went to be with her beloved heavenly father Jesus on June 22^nd, 2023.  She was born November 18, 1929 in Ocate, NM to Daniel and Adelia Duran.

She moved from an agrarian lifestyle to Cheyenne, WY in 1952.  She was a very creative and colorful person.  Stella had a flair for fashion and loved her lipstick!  Her favorite pastime was playing bingo and often won big! 

Stella was a devout Christian Catholic and loved her family very much.  She was a strongminded person and a very seasoned cook.

Her nickname was “Our Little Queen”.  When engaging in family banter only she and her sisters understood their quirky sense of humor and inside jokes.

She worked for Cheyenne Steam Laundry, Laramie County School District #1 and St. Mary’s School as a Foster grandmother delightfully for many years.

She is survived by her brothers Bronson Duran, Wilfeord Duran (Albuquerque, NM), Manuel Duran (Collbran, CO), sister Joy Vigil (Springer, NM), her daughters Pearl Romero (Albuquerque, NM), Doretta Leach (Cheyenne, WY), and Diana DeHerrera (Cheyenne, WY).

She has several grandchildren, Araceli Herrera (Denver, CO), Sajid A. Lopez (Amarillo, TX), Jonathan Leach (Seattle, WA), Annette Gallegos (Albuquerque, NM), Elmer Gallegos (Albuquerque, NM), Ernestine Romero (Albuquerque, NM), and Ignacio Mireles (Albuquerque, NM).

Stella was a Great-Great Grandmother and was preceded in death by her husband John Raymond DeHerrera (Las Vegas, NM) and infant daughter Marie DeHerrera, Sisters Mae Bustos, Gloria Trujillo (Springer, NM), Josephine Romero (Albuquerque, NM), Minnie Valdez, Olivia Chaparro, Nora Sisneros (Cheyenne, WY).  Brothers Elmer Duran, Daniel Duran (Ocate, NM), and Alex Duran (Kissimee, FL).
