A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church with The Reverend Rick Veit officiating. Following the reception, an interment service will be held at the Mountain View Memorial Park Cemetery. Cremation will take place at Schrader’s Sunset Park Crematory. Suzanne Williams Pace, 62, of Cheyenne died peacefully on May 30, 2010 at the Davis Hospice Center after a courageous fight against cancer. She was born May 31, 1947 in Rapid City, South Dakota to Dr. Francis R. and Pauline Williams. She attended Rapid City Schools and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1965. During her high school years she was active in Quarter horse competition, and in 1962 was the South Dakota Quarter Horse Association State Champion in Junior Horsemanship. She was an accomplished rider, and especially enjoyed cutting. She was Miss High School Rodeo of South Dakota in 1963. She attended the University of Wyoming, and while there met Darwin Pace on a blind date. They were married on January 30, 1967 in Rapid City. After living in Colorado Springs, CO and Sheridan, WY, the couple has resided in Cheyenne since 1973. She worked in the banking industry for 40 years, starting in Sheridan. In Cheyenne she worked for the bank that is now known as Wells Fargo for 26 years. Most recently she was employed at Wyoming State Bank. She had a loyal customer following, many of whom moved their accounts to her new bank as she changed employment. She was a lifetime member of the Episcopal Church, and was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, serving for many years on the Altar Guild. She belonged to Beta Sigma Phi, and served as Treasurer of her Chapter for many years. She enjoyed snow skiing in the winter months and golf in the summer months, and was a member of the Cheyenne Ski Club and Cheyenne Country Club. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Darwin Pace; her sister, Laurie Tophoj and husband, Elton, of Oshkosh, NE; sisters-in-law, Ruth Reynolds and husband, Earl, and Billie Corso, both of Cheyenne; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Raymond Charles Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Mark’s Episcopal Church Parish Life Fund, 1908 Central Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82001.
