Theresa Antonetta Swisher

December 8, 1959 — December 22, 2023

Cheyenne

Theresa Antonetta Swisher, known for her love of others, her generosity, and her deeply caring spirit, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2023, at Polaris Rehabilitation in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was born on December 8, 1959, in Laramie, Wyoming, to Raymond and Maria Willhard.

Theresa lived a purposeful life centered around helping those in need. After attending school in Laramie, she moved to Bountiful, Utah, where she graduated from high school. Her compassionate nature led her to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Salt Lake City, where she met the love of her life and soulmate, Lloyd Swisher. Theresa's dedication to taking care of others extended beyond her professional life as she made it a priority to be there for friends in times of need.

Even when faced with financial scarcity herself, Theresa would always find a way to help those less fortunate than her. Her innate generosity was evident in every aspect of her life. Whether it was lending a listening ear or offering a helping hand, Theresa touched the hearts of many with her selflessness.

After Lloyd's passing, Theresa briefly resided in Alabama before returning to Wyoming. For the last eight years of her life, Polaris nursing home became Theresa's cherished home.  Within its walls, she found dear friends among the residents and staff.

Theresa had several hobbies and interests that brought joy into her own life while also brightening the lives of those around her. She loved spending time playing Bingo at Polaris and enjoyed the simple pleasure of coloring pictures, often creating them as gifts for others. When fellow residents were unable to go out for their necessities due to various reasons, Theresa would take it upon herself to do their shopping. Alongside her dear friend Dixie Sells, Theresa made it a priority to care for the elderly community, symbolizing her unwavering dedication to bringing comfort and happiness to others.

Theresa's passing during the Christmas season seems somehow fitting as she will forever be remembered for embodying the true spirit of Christmas. She brought warmth, love, and compassion to all those around her, just as the holiday season reminds us to do.

Theresa Antonetta Swisher leaves behind a legacy of kindness and empathy that will never be forgotten. She is survived by her loving sister Loretta Barker and brother Raymond Willhard. Theresa's memory will also be cherished by her brother-in-law James Barker, her close friend Dixie Sells, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

In honor of Theresa's life and all the lives she touched, we will be gathering at Polaris Rehabilitation Center (2700 E. 12 St.) on January 11th at 2pm..   Pastor Shaun Sells (Calvary Chapel) will officiate as we gather to share in our memories of Theresa, her love of coloring, and a reception of desserts.

May her compassionate spirit live on in our hearts as we strive to emulate the love and generosity that defined her beautiful life.
